We got this for our 12 yr old daughter but I had to learn everything to teach her how to use it. MAN, what a dad will not do for his kid/s. This was the only one that I could find that was not shipped from Japan (which takes weeks and they all say we are responsible for port taxes etc etc etc). It is a very professional program but hey, kids can do it. It is also very hard to get into the computer because the webpage to register it on the yellow card does not work right. I had to Google a good English registration website to register it and make it all work properly OR you can just right click on the page and then click on 'Translate to English'. You really have to Google tons of stuff to get it into your computer properly, everything working and then to learn how to use it all (like having to set your location to Japan when installing it = go to Control Panel then click on Location or Region). This has the music, instrument program (that can hook up to your keyboard via MIDI) and the voice singing program. Side Note: I also downloaded the free animation program 'MMD' MikuMikuDance to turn her songs into animations with Miku (again, Google it all). Then there is a HUGE learning curve for ALL of these programs but hey, kids love it and kids can do it so I guess I am just getting really old and or really tired :-) It is good to read / study the manual with your kid if possible. Press F1 key for the manual in almost all programs or go to the Help button in the programs to get the user manual.BTW: If you want the model to use after you create a song with the voice and instruments, then just Google MMD (MikuMikuDance) and download that free program. There is a HUGE learning curve (from my old dad POV) but fun and ? easy enough for kids!
Mainly, these are really professional programs which will give any kid a huge jump on their computer skills portfolio. It makes learning fun so we are all for it! Our kid has to do all of her school work and chores to get to play with this so it works very well for us. THANK YOU!
UPDATE: 3/22/2018 It is the APE 'Artist Pro Edition' you want to register (vs using the free temporary Studio One by mistake) to get Piapro Studio to work with this (and you need that to get the Miku voice into Studio One). If you use the free trial Studio One, Piapro will disappear when the free trial is over in about 2 weeks, then you need to register the Studio One APE that comes with this.
Yes there is a big learning curve but it is really worth it and afterall, if you get stuck just ask any 7 yr old for help :-)
8/9/2018 UPDATE: Our daughter's computer hard drive went out 'failed' which is causing another huge learning adventure to get the programs into and working on the new hard drive. It seems we are allowed 3 activations (on one computer only) before we have to contact the company to have them ? activate it for us. You also need to DEACTIVATE it with the Deactivation file if you want to move it form one computer to another. I have the DVD but the company aso set up a download good for 2 weeks for me to reinstall it. More on this as I get it fixed.
