  Not good enough really. First you announced early 2019, then spring 2019, then you say it's coming out but can't give a date.
  You might as well not have bothered to post this in all honesty. Most modern cars now are CarPlay compatible and as an apple user i don't want to have to rely on using data all the time when i'm in europe, that was the beauty of this app.
  Surely you can see why people like myself are getting frustrated by Tomtom's lack of ability to even put a rough date on it. I've already had to do one trip to europe using my phone again this year instead of the lovely screen in my car and as has been pointed out before this is bordering on illegal now to do.
  You let anyone run the beta without offering it to people who subscribe first so there will no doubt be thousands out there who downloaded the beta and never used it.
  Not good TomTom, you're better than this and normally i sing your praises but this is ridiculous.

  Our focus regarding in-dash systems was on Apple CarPlay for this build. So if turn-by-turn instruction can be played over car speakers still depends on the system in the car.

  That would be how your car is set-up. You will hear instructions if you set the source on your head unit in the car to bluetooth, if not then you won't.
  That is nothing to do with the app.

  My iPhone connects automatically to my pioneer stereo for hands free. If I use Tomtom Go when playing music/podcasts from my iPhone I get navigation instructions. If I however choose to listen to digital radio on my stereo, I get no navigation instructions. You blame the head unit, but using Waze, Here wego, Google Maps and Sygic there is no such problem.
  My son has a Sony Apple play unit, when his iPhone is connected to the unit, he can play music through Spotify and use his phone for navigation through Tomtom go and get instructions. If however, he uses the radio, guess what.....take your time, I’m sure you’ll get there.
  So effectively your approach is when all other apps work bar yours it’s the head unit, so nothing to do with me guv.
  Just be honest, if you can be bothered and as others reported issue some it is how it appears, just say so.
  Rather than your current lazy approach.

  I didn't blame the head unit, i told you how you could hear the instructions by switching the source to bluetooth but you chose to ignore that and rant like an offended child.   To use that your head unit must be able to decode HFP protocol which as far as i know is now a standard feature on ios 12. What it basically does is trick the head unit into thinking that it's receiving a phone call and plays the directions as if it's receiving a call. See, helpful aren't i?
  Also you could buy a cheap little bluetooth speaker for your visor and link your phone to that. Or a little BT earpiece and link to that etc as a temporary work-around.
  As I said previously if it annoys you that much don't use it, seems really simple to me. That's what i'm doing at the moment, happy times.

  Customize your map by only downloading what you need with country- or regional-level maps. Select and download just what you need with world wide maps available for download, but in downloadable country or subregions of ~300-500mb which lets you create your own custom map.

  Will TomTom be offering non-3D maps? As 3D maps are unnecessary and bloated.
  What about all of the features that we asked to be added to GO Mobile over 3 years ago, please see older posts? E.g. Full support of custom POIs and showing the POI icons on the screen?

  i guess i'm still stuck using my 5-6 year old Android phone this summer for my road trip. It's really unbelievable. Basic navigation options still not included...

  TomTom GO Mobile will receive an update soon. The new app with the name TomTom GO Navigation gets more useful functions and support for CarPlay. The app also introduces a new revenue model.
  It has been three years since TomTom launched the updated TomTom GO Mobile app, as a successor to the earlier navigation apps. Soon there will be changes planned, because the app will be given a new name with new functions and a CarPlay version. Important for current users is that something has changed with regard to the prices of the new app.
  The updated app has four distinctive new functions. First of all, you can download customized maps. Instead of having to download an entire area such as Benelux or Western Europe, you can now opt for maps at country and regional level. These cards are between 300 and 500 MB in size and you can therefore put together your own card package. The maps are also updated weekly, so that your maps are updated faster with the new traffic situations.

  Absolutely agree. I did try messing around the other day in the car and seeing if I could get an A2dp blocker (will force it to HFP) to work on there but to no avail. Looks like it's Apple maps for a while longer.
  I could try Waze or Google maps but i'd rather eat one of my own toe nails (not pretty) than sully my life with either of those.
