All devices operating in MTP mode are supported. Note: The MTPdrive is not a replacement for the device's factory (or Windows default) device driver. You must be able to connect your device to the computer and have it visible in the Windows Explorer, before it. I had recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 8.1 to 10. Since the upgrade, I am unable to connect my Android devices as MTP (or Portable Media Player) devices on Windows.

The devices that I am using are Nexus 4, Samsung Grand 2 and Kindle Fire HD 7'.Prior to the upgrade I was able to view these as Portable Devices.

All of these are displaying as Android ADB devices. I have tried the usual procedure of deleting that from Device Manager, and choosing Windows to choose an appropriate driver.

Windows 10 doesn't even display an option to add these as MTP USB devices or USB Composite Devices.

I have attempted to connect these devices to another Windows 8 machine that I have and they work pretty fine.

Can someone help me with a solution?

After Windows 10 Creators (15063) update to get it working I had to navigate to theC:WindowsINF folder then find a file called wpdmtp.inf and install it by right clicking on it.

I remedied this with my HTC by updating to the latest USB driver. I'd recommend looking on your manufacturer's website for updated drivers. Failing that, trying choosing one of the generic Windows MTP drivers.

The download of the Media Package may solve this, however I don't have Media Player at home on my Windows 10 Pro N Machine & can connect my removable devices perfectly fine.

You may need to download the Android drivers from Google's page here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html

This is part of the Android SDK, so when you download it, select the USB Driver Package and install that. I had some issues with Windows 7 and Android Drivers, Windows 8 seemed to fix it hence why 10 is fine for me.

Give that a try though and let us know how you get on :)

MTP Driver for Android is a driver package that can solve your issues if Windows OS is not properly detecting android devices that are connected via USB cable. MTP connection is a standard feature of modern Android devices, which enables a seamless connection with Windows file system, where your Android device will show up just like a regular external storage drive that can be managed with ease, even with simple dragging and dropping file to and from Android device.
It is important to note that MTP drivers are shipped with every modern version of Windows OS, and therefore this USB cable connection method with Android devices should be working seamlessly even on a fresh installation of the Windows OS. However, from time to time, MTP drivers may become corrupted or missing, causing you to lose the ability to connect with Android devices.
If that is the case with you, simple reinstallation of MTP drivers for Android devices should fix your troubles and enable fast and stable file transfers.
Installation and Use

While MTP standard has enabled millions of users all around the world to easily share files between their home PC (or laptop) and their Android mobile device, sometimes software issues may prevent you to establish a stable MTP connection. In that case the first thing you need to do is to check few things out – firstly, see if MTP sharing is enabled on your Android device (Setting > Storage > Options > USB Connection > and select the Media device (MTP) option), and if your USB cable is performing OK (the best procedure is to test another cable). If those things are not causing any issue, then the time has come to reinstall your Windows MTP drivers. This driver update is painless and quick and will provide to your Windows OS all the necessary files that are needed to establish stable, secure and error-free MTP connection with your phone.
To install this driver, simply download the installer package that weights at less than 10 MB in size and follow the on-screen instructions. The installer will automatically deploy all the necessary files deep into the Windows OS structure and update all the required Windows Registry entries.
After installation is done, it is recommended to fully restart your PC and then try to establish an MTP connection to your Android device with a USB cable using usual connection steps.
